eInfochips Robotics Revolution to further fuel Qualcomm Robotics Accelerator Program, powered by Techstars

Robots are no longer just the business of research laboratories and secretive corporate divisions. The recent development in technologies and emerging robotics start-ups will result in diverse types of product opportunities ranging from tech toys to smart appliances and new drone solutions.  To help these start-ups in bringing the proof-of-concepts to reality, Qualcomm Incorporated has recently concluded the Qualcomm Robotics Accelerator powered by Techstars, a four-month program aimed to accelerate the development of the next generation robots and intelligent machines.

Around 10 companies were selected to participate in the program that was based at Qualcomm's corporate campus in San Diego. eInfochips, a Qualcomm® Snapdragon™  licensee with hardware and software expertise, worked along with Qualcomm and Techstars  to accelerate these 10 robotics start-ups to build the next generation of smart robots, using Qualcomm technologies including features for machine vision and intelligent controls, using sensors, camera, video processing and connectivity capabilities.

Snapdragon Platforms for Robotics
With the recent announcement of Open Source Robotics Foundation (OSRF), Robot Operating System (ROS) will be supported on Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ processors, a product of Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., extending the processors applicability from smartphones to drones and robots.

ROS provides standard operating system services such as hardware abstraction, low-level device control, implementation of commonly used functionality, message-passing between processes, and package management for Machine learning

  • Artificial intelligence with smart sense
  • Facial and Gesture recognition
  • Voice command operation

Recently, eInfochips has launched Eragon 600, a Snapdragon based System on Module (SoM) and development kit with advance computing and image processing capabilities making it an ideal solutions for embedded product across industries including robotics, security and surveillance, infotainment, avionics (in-flight entertainment), display systems, and Smart Internet of Everything (IoE) systems. Eragon 600 with advanced communication interfaces will be leveraged by participants of Robotics accelerator participants to initiate the hardware / software development for their proof of concepts. In addition to the modules and development kits, eInfochips has strong expertise in imaging and framework/technologies related to robotics including AllJoyn® Intelligent Proximal Connectivity, Qualcomm® Vuforia™ Augmented Reality Platform, FastCV™ Computer Vision (CV) Library, Snapdragon SDK for Android (facial processing/recognition), Snapdragon Micro Rover 3D printable robot.

Leveraging Eragon 600 and technology expertise, eInfochips has also developed in-house frameworks and proof of concepts for Robotics application like object recognition and tracking, number identification and voice command.
